Ashley Shine Dot Shock Matte Lipsticks (45 peso lipstick?!)

I honestly never took time looking at cheap makeups that I usually see at grocery stores because they just look sketchy! I mean? A mascara for P60.00? A lipstick for P45.00? That’s just sketchy! But then…this certain line of lipsticks that I randomly saw at the beauty aisle of a supermarket really caught my attention. It just looks promising and I just couldn’t not check it out!!!

I’m talking about the Ashley Shine Dot Shock Matte Lipsticks! I originally posted and shared this on a Facebook group called TMUR (The MakeUp Revolution Philippines) and a lot asked if its safe because of obvious reasons and I honestly thought these were counterfeited products at first because some of their products look exactly like some of the high end brands but then I thought, why would a known supermarket, sell a fake product? If something happens, they would surely be liable! So I gave the brand a benefit of the doubt and bought the entire line of lipsticks. A few girls from the group made the time to research about the product and apparently it is FDA approved! So no worry girls! These babies are definitely a steal!

When I first saw these lipsticks, it instantly reminded me of the 3CE lipsticks that I have been itching to get my hands on! So when I saw them, I didn’t have to think twice! I got them because man, the colors are to die for! This line has a total of 6 shades. 4 of them are nudes and 2 reds. I didn’t expect much from them because come on, PHP45.00??? For a lipstick? But then it exceeded my expectations!

The shade names are just plain numbers. (From right) #1,#2,#3,#4,#5 and #6.

The packaging is just the usual cheap looking plastic tube. It’s very flimsy and a few drops will surely break it. When I first opened shade #5, it damaged half of the lipstick. It was so hard to open because of the sticker in between the cover and the base that I had a hard time pulling the cap off. I’m not a huge fan of the packaging but then for its price? I can’t really complain!

These lipsticks are not flat matte. They’re very creamy and easy to apply. It doesn’t tug on the lips unless the lips are very dry so hydrate your lips a little bit but not too much or it won’t glide on your lips.

I was honestly shocked with the color pay off of these lipsticks. These lipsticks are pigmented enough! But I gotta be honest, you have to swipe a couple of times to really get the colors pop out! One thing I’ve noticed about the shade #5 is the color pay off is not that great. I expected it to look like a Taylor Swift kind of bright red but then it didn’t… which made me sad.

These lipsticks has a really strong smell. If you’re sensitive with strong scents then these are not for you. The smell reminds me of my childhood magic lipsticks that turns pink a few minutes after applying them or those childhood lip gloss that has thingies inside the tube? Ugh I can’t explain but if you had that once then that’s how exactly it smells! Personally, it doesn’t bother me. The scent doesn’t last the whole time its on your lips.

My favorite shades would be #1, #2, and #3! They are the perfect MLBB shades for me! I’m just so in love with their colors that I wanted to share it to all the girls out there right away! I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE 3!

I honestly haven’t tried wearing it for a long period of time because I’ve been staying in for the past few days but like any other lipsticks out there, it comes off when you eat.

I’ve worn this a couple of times this past week and no it didn’t.

I got mine from Robinson’s Supermarket. I’m just not sure where to get elsewhere.

I hate that it didn’t focus on all the shades so I decided to take a photo using my iPhone.

And a close up swatch of my 3 favorites from the line! (Taken using my iPhone)

And this is how it looks like on me:

To sum it all up, I honestly love the colors of this line. I also love the fact that it’s pigmented enough to be seen on my lips and the price! OH. MY. GOSH. I am still not over it! For 45 pesos, I can’t really ask for more. You get what you pay for and a little bit more. I definitely found my MLBB everyday lipstick!
